If he had nothing into this venture and was just looking for a free hand-out, it would be a totally different story. But sounded like he's paid his dues.

I think most of the anger is based on his attitude when he posted. The CAPS and the swearing, name calling, etc.
No doubt he paid for the amp, the shipping, and the diagnostic - but that's no reason to get absolutely livid about it.
A simple phone call would have worked just as well.
Dave goes way above and beyond in replacing the amp and the kid publicly offers it for sale. It is a free world, but it's slap in the face to Dave/Gemsen imo.
We're all only privy to what's been posted. I for one would love to have been there when this broken amp was tested, but that's just me.

Tom, it's his right to do what he wants, we all have the joice to have integrity in our actions and it's great that Dave is showing integrity.
How would you feel if I bought an ARC amp used from a pawnshop, and it didn't work. After I paid some shipping to have it looked at would you replace it free of charge with a brand new one if you knew I was going to sell it as soon as I get it in my hands. Also take into account I was swearing up a storm about Kankar on a public forumn before you shipped me a new one.
It would just be nice if people showed some respect for others.

tom you have it right and I feel a few members have way over reacted and given this guy undue grief (I'm not naming names or pointing fingers, there's more than 1 of you)..........
I would have handled things a lot differently than he did (the name yelling and swearing, ect....)
but I totally understand how he felt ....
I understand all he wanted from gem sem was his 60 bucks back or his amp fixed .....dave went way above and beyond and offered him a new amp right off the bat ........he took it, who wouldn't
in the meantime he's found something he feels is better and no longer needs/wants the kicker he's selling it to get his money back (again I'd keep it, but it's his amp he can do what he wants)
what I don't get is all the hostility because he origonaly purchased it from a pawn shop ?????
a few people even acted like he deserved to get screwed over because of it
why is that so bad, it's no different than buying it used from a fellow CCA member in the classifieds.... not everybody can afford to buy new gear all the time
heck I bought 2 of my amps used from a fellow CCA member......does that mean I'm now scum who deserves to be yelled at

the point you're missing is he called gem sen asked if he sent it in and was willing to pay could the fix it, they said yes ..........he sent it in and 80 dollars later he still had a broken amp
so tell me if you sent in your blown L7 and paid 80 dollars and got it back blown, would you not be upset
and if you called gem sen up to bitch and see if you can get some of your cash back and they offered you a new sub, wouldn't you take it

Once again, I'd still like to be there when the amp was tested - both @ Gemsen and at certified, future shop and whoever else in Edmonton that looked at it.
I'd be willing to bet no fault found was the correct diagnosis.
And from my experience, most stuff in pawn shops is stolen or beat to crap. I've had too much stuff stolen to have any sympathy for someone who has problems with hot gear (not that the Kicker amp in question was stolen - but it's quite likely)
Anyhow, let's find someone new to harp on - how about dodge and his 2nd hand SS amps? [img]tongue.gif[/img]

And now the guy is being dogged on the classifieds. Someone should delete all that crap. The guy doesn't deserve it. People here may not like the way things turned out that's just too bad.
And if someone sent us back an ARC amp, paid for it to be repaired, and we sent it back to them and it wasn't working still, yeah, they should be pissed at us for not making sure our work was checked and worth the repair bill we charged them. Fair is fair right ?!?!??!? On the flip side, I think the guy didn't handle the situation right............. but water under the bridge now.
