Never once has a cop kept my family safe.
Here is the list of things that cops have done for me:
- Given me tickets for going under the speed limit
- Pulled me over because I "look suspicious"
- Taken me in for questioning regarding an incident that occurred when I was on the other side of the planet
- Harassed me countless times on my bicycle for "looking suspicious"
What have they NOT done:
- Stopped a theif in my neighbourhood that steals something about once every two weeks and we all know who it is
- Stopped my sister's neighbor from drinking like a tool then firing off shotguns into the air.
I am sorry, cops are great in theory but horrible in practice. I would say about half of them are good, and half are bad (from my experiences with them). Only problem, the ones that are behind desks are the good ones, and the leftovers are tooling around in their cars hangin at Timmy Ho's.
Maybe cops on your side of Canada are nice, but in Windsor they're dinks.
Oh, and errors on tickets can hold up if you have a lawyer; otherwise they can tell you anything and you will believe them. My sisters ex is a lawyer, pulled out into traffic from a parking lot and got tooled. Went to court because the officer wrote the law he was breaking wrong (like, he wrote "160.12, pulling from a driveway" insead of "160.15, pulling from a parking lot").
