And if you installers are doing a half-assed job because a car is dirty, then your boss needs to slap you up side the head. I work in an industry where I go into peoples houses. ALOT of them look like pigs live there, but regaurdless of the state of their house, the works gets done, and done WELL. Regaurdless if it is a crack shack, or a multi-million dollar home. Besides, untill you work with DBO(dead body odor), You ain't smelled/seen nothing. ever scrape brains off a cement floor?? getting off topic, I know.... Here's a tip....if someones car is dirty, don't offend them by asking them to clean it, maybe charge a bit more for the job to cover gloves and soap costs. It makes you happy to get more for installing, the customer doesn't have to be embarrassed(they usually already know they are pigs and what is in their car), and you get a return customer and pehaps their friends/familys business too next time.

Customer service has really gone down the crapper, just as much as people don't care about their messy cars....
Yes I do know what dead body odor smells like, burnt flesh too. No I don't know what it's like to scrap brains of a cement floor, but I'm pretty sure it sucks. However I'm an installer and those things are definatly not in the job description, If your car smells like that then you can take it some where else and good riddance. It has nothing to do with customer service, I do my job to the best of my ability every time. What I said was it's alot easier when your job environment is clean and tidy.Your car is your personal space but if someone else is working in it you should have enough respect for that person to clean it up. Clean well kept cars will always get treated better for the simple fact that they have to leave the same way they came in. If you bring a piece of stinking, rotting, falling apart piece of crap that's what you get back. How is it offending some one if you tell them their car is too dirty to work on? If it is then it is, they know it I know it so fix the problem.

A few years back we had to do a complete under car inspection. Why? Because she accidentally ran over a drunk homeless person that stumbled in front of her. Not as horrific under the car as you might imagine, but still eerie.
