Head Unit LED's

Has anybody here ever changed the LED's in their HU's to match their dash and instument pannels of their cars? I have an Alpine CDA-9813 and its one model below that has custom display colors. I want to change it from green to red or blue to match the lights on my VW.

If anybody has done this or think its worth trying let me know.

They aren't you're normal defacto LED's. They are PCB mount LEDs that are extremly small about 1/16th square. it takes some very fine soldering skills to desolder, then re-solder the new ones to the board... I wouldn't bother.

Hey

I have done this a few times. As SQ Civic said it is tough though. Unless you have the right tools to rework SMT components I wouldn't recommend it.

Later, J
