k well that was very unsucceful. i got every thing apart that was the easy part. then i go to try and find this wire(i find it) and the i try to find out where its grounded thats when i run in to trouble. i find that all the wires have been taped together. every signal wire in the car. not sure if this is some ones way of insulating a wires or what. so ya im just gonna leave this project till after x mas when i have some stuff to acctually put in the car. it was fun and all and i learn how to take my dash apart, but this is gonna take more time then i got right now.

Hey dude, just letting you know I ahve one of those am/fm signal amplifiers o whatever they're called in my car.
I don't know if it really made a difference, and if it did, I can't really tell.
So....lol jsut some info on it.

Lumina Kid, here's an easy way to find the ground wire.
Buy a digital mutli-meter (wonderful tool to have, it is worth it to buy) you've been asking a lot of questions so you want to learn. Having a digital multi-meter (DMM) is a wonderful tool to help you learn more.
Take your DMM and set it to its lowest resistance setting also labelled ohm, or that funny circle thing you've talked about before (the greek letter 'Omega')
Touch the DMM leads together and the display should move around, then read 0.0 Then you know you have the right setting. To be sure you have the right setting, put one lead on the positive terminal of a speaker and the other on the negative. If it gives you a reading of 4 or 8 or a number very close to that (depending on the speaker) then you know you have the right setting.
Now you have the right setting - time to work on the radio.
With the harness disconnected from the radio, place on lead on a steel part of the chassis on the radio. Then with the other lead, probe each of the prongs where the harness plugs into (Probe the radio prongs, NOT the prongs of the harness attached to the car). When the DMM reads between 0 and 0.5 you have likely found the ground prong.
Now look at the harness and figure out which wire that prong connects to. Use simple, spatial logic by seeing how the harness fits and so on. When you think you have the ground figured out verify that it is the ground.
Find a portion of bare metal in the car - your dash is open so there should be lots of bare metal in there. Take one lead from the DMM touch it to the metal, place the other lead into the socket which you have determined to be ground. If you get a reading from 0 - 0.5 you have found the ground wire.
