How much can 4ga power wires can handle

I'm just trying to plan out my install for my daily car and have a power wire question. I'm basically looking at having a dual amp setup. 2 channel amp at around 100rms for comps in the front and a mono amp running around 500rms for a sub.

I'll have a distribution block running 4ga power to each amp which should be plenty big. But my question is "Is it worth going to 1/0ga wire from the battery to the distribution block?"

Another quick question here. I'm not looking at getting a High Output alt, but would swapping out wires for the Big Three do much of a difference?

yes and yes. 1/0 awg is marginally more expensive, but offers a lot more flexibility down the road....and the big 3 is well worth the time and effort, can give you 1/2 a volt more at the amps!!

do your big 3 and your 0gauge length to your distro block. do it once and you wont regret. cause what if you decide to upgrade your monoblock to something bigger?? you never know...

I say just run 0 gauge from the beginning, i learned the hard way after running 4gauge and upgrading my amps, there isnt enough power flowing through the 4ga to supply them to during songs with low notes my mono shuts off....do it right the first time!
