how to test speaker?

ok guys i had my drivers side mid stop working this week and today i pulled it out of the car to see what was wrong. i thought possibly a wire came off or something simple, but no.
i tried re-wiring it and testing, no sound, no movement
i removed the mid, took it to the x-over, grabbed new wire, wired it up and test, no sound, no movement. i then grabbed another speaker and it worked both with current wiring in the car as well as just on its own
the cone moves freely, no rubbing. spider isn't ripped, leads are still intacked.
i'm stumped.
any ideas?
mid is a focal polyglas 6v2 serial # 25b021469
i'm sad.

sounds like a broken voice coil connection/wire, and check for a cold solder joint...I've had a few of those over the years. Get a voltmeter and probe away.

first thing i would do is measure with an ohm meter, before i tried all the other hard stuff.

A good meter makes a good friend.
