this can be expensive at first
the expense of the air tank, compressor, air horn, air lines, electrical all add up. once its done its easy to maintain.
it will **** some people off so be prepared for that. mine has saved me more than once. i once had a tractor trailer entering my lane, the driver didnt look before starting his lane change. im very hard to miss (big white truck). anyways, one good blast and he swerved right back into his lane. lol he had the nerve to blast me when i got to the front of the truck so i backed off and gave him another blast, mine being the louder horn. hehe my oem horn is a joke and would not have been noticed and he would have put me into the gaurd rail.
check this place out http://www.airassisted.ca/aac/air_ride_store.htm
its a place here in Canada but they drop ship US they also have US pricing on the site. this is where i get all my air ride (on my last truck) and air horn equipment.
a word of caution, some states Florida included (i believe) passed a law that prohibits the use of air horns that are not installed from the manufacturer. this was a few years ago because of a few deaths related to the use of horns. some punks were going around and blasting little old ladies at bus stops. check your local laws.
on a side note, they are not allowed here also and i have used mine in front of the police with no issues, but i only use it if i really need to or im around friends.
somepeople install it on a switch so they can still use the vehicles original horn, i chose to install mine in place of my factory horn since my horn sucks..

good luck
Dan

Train horns are the more extreme way to go, but there are air horns available that don't need a seperate compressor or have a compact unit that is located nearby. Obviously u won't have as much pressure and therefore not as much noise, but they're still damn loud.

@nghtrdr: bahaha @ the story of your train horn helping you out. i rarely use my normal horn... but im not bold enough to place my OEM horn with a train horn. i'd prefer the setup that allows me to have it installed with a standalone system. like you... i dont plan on using it to scare people or make youtube videos. instead i just want in just in case ill ever needed it, and frankly im very impressed by them. i looked at the website you recommended but i only saw 1 kit with all the parts; i literally would need everything, and i don't have to knowledge to piece this thing together by myself. someone recommended that i used a store that sells nothing but kits here, but still i dont know which setup i should get. recommendations?

@Mr.DatSubishi: i am not sure if i know the difference between a train and an air horn. i have tried to do research to see what the difference is... but i never get a clear definition.

whatever the case, if anyone could help me pick out a kit... id GREATLY appreciate it. thanks again.

Train horns are air horns. In most cases at least. Train horns will be quite a bit louder than an publically available air horn.

Kathy, the difference between a train horn and standard air horn is price and loudness. Both a standard air horn, and train horn use air to sound. Real train horns like the Nathan brand, are huge and take up a lot of space, as well require a lot of air to sound. If you are putting a tank into your car with compressor, sometimes a 3 gallon tank may not be enough to sound a Nathan horn for long periods of time. You may get a few short bursts out of it, before having to fill up the tank again. I have air horns on my car (also purchased from www.airassisted.com) but for me, I already have air ride on my car, so a tank and compressor was already there. It was only natural to add an air horn. The horns I have are very loud, you can hear them (and feel them in your chest) when they sound. A Nathan train horn on the other hand would be extremely loud, but at 8-10 times the cost. I don't think you need anything that extreme, unless money and space is no object, at which point I say go for it.
I live 20 minutes from www.airassisted.com and can assure you that Kevin is a stand up guy. If you want any more info on what air horns or other accessories you can upgrade to, I would suggest giving him a call on his 800 number, and talking directly to him. He can walk you through everything you need to know, as well as suggest what is right for you. If you don't feel comfortable talking on the phone, an email works also.
I would suggest this kit is basically what you would need. I have the same 3 horn trumpets on my car, and they are very loud.

Tell Kevin that Adam with the silver Grand Prix sent you, and he'll give you an awesome deal.
Hope that helps.

the kit mentioned on their page is a very nice setup. i used to run the triple and upgraded last year to the quad. on my other truck i had the viair 480 at 200psi with the triple, but i had an air ride system in that truck so recovery time had to be quick.
my current set up has the quad horn on a 2gal tank with the viair 280 that u see in the kit.
this compressor although small by comparison to the bigger brothers is just as strong and durable. ive had mine for 5years now and its mounted inverted (not recommended) because of space limitations i had no choice.
as stated Kevin can and will help u if u feel the kit is not big enough for u or u maybe want more out of the system (ie:air ride, maybe an air outlet to pump up ur own tires). i had the last one also on my last truck saved a few people on the side of the road with that setup... i miss my sonoma. Kevin is a very nice guy and very informed.
if all u want in a sytem is an air horn than the kit is perfect. u will have to get a boyfriend/husband to install for u if ur not good with tools, but its a very complete kit.

ps if u were closer i would be more than happy to lend a hand with the install..
