Is this worth it??

I currently have a W4 and drive a 97 Acura 1.6EL
I am buying a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee and figured I should upgrade my sound system.
Do I need to upgrade or is my current sub good enough/comparable?
Are there any other subs that will give me the same quality?
Thanks
If you're unsure if you're going to be happy with your W4 why not throw it in to your Jeep and see if you like it. If you're unhappy with it then upgrade and spend the money. Otherwise save the time and possibly the money when you have something that might work great for you.

Here is a nice comparison on the MTX Thunder 9500 and the W7.. http://www.mtxaudio.com/caraudio/headtohead/w7.cfm

A Guy local has the thunder 9500 single 12" in a 2.5 Cubic foot ported box.. and it sounded better than the W7 in the HO Wedge box from JLAudio..

Unfortunately that little comparison is a joke. The JL W7 is a superior driver to the 9500.

biased or not, a test is a test and the results speak for themselves

i would try your current woofer as was mentioned earlier, the sound of your current set up may sound way different than it did in the Acura (for better or worse) and if you are still not happy, than upgrade from there

if you do want an upgrade in my "biased" opinion, the Sledgehammer boxes (both 7500 and 9500) from MTX are both great values

I found it hard to believe, And i love my W3's, my previous speakers were W0's, and im not a big fan of MTX, but they have obviously steeped up to the plate with the 9500's..

what kind of credit does a test done by a company that sells a product that its comparing to have

its a joke it has no credability

</font>
Alright.. if you direct yourself back to my original post with the picture, you will see my comment above it concerning a guy local had tried both in his car,, and his opinion / my opinion and the shop owners opinion was it sounded better than the W7.. The shop sells JL Audio and Not MTX.

And everyone who is discrediting the MTX VS JL comparison should maybe read it for what it is..

The MTX has a larger voice coil.
THe MTX has a larger power handling
THe MTX has a larger linear excursion.

ECT&gt; ECT&gt; ECT&gt;

All that test is are specs that JL has released Vs the Specs MTX has released. Based on what they are comparing, the test is completely accurate.

So what part is Biased?

+ Last time I checked MTX retails the 10" 9500 for 40% or more less than the JL..

Even if the JL is a little better for argument sake. is it 40% better?

Not sure why everyone immediatly discredits MTX. Back in my car audio selling days MTX always was the best bang for the buck. From what I see it still is.!

were comparing numbers here guys
a test using published numbers does not make one driver better than the other

as in the test i was refering to the mtx smoke test
