i'm going for looks and sound. A local shop just asked me to do installs for them and they carry kicker, alpine, and sony. Otherwise it wouldnt have even been a thought, just would have gone jl. But as far as dd, I checked them out and they do look to be ok, but I want a "matching" system, subs & amps. More for the asthetic's than anything else. If I could find soundstream around here I'd prolly go that way. Thanks for the reply's and keep em coming.

Sorry dude, can't help to laugh about your comments (not at you) about DD looking to be OK and then considering Soundstream as well (if you only really knew the background details). A pair of DD12's and one DDM1A amp and a C4A to match and you are good to go.

By the looks of things he is pricing more in the DD 500 range................. and personally Id still take the JL..............

Maybe but I want 4-10's The JL's and the kicker"s both come in 8ohms, so I can run them down to 1 ohm, not a 1/4, which will make the matching amp happier.

As far as background, well I've been out of the game for about 6 years now, man starting to feel old, lol.

 

IMO Kicker. JL seems overpriced. They are good products though.

 

Everyone's giving you opinion's and no-one's bothered to ask you how much airspace you have to put them in, whether the enclosure will be sealed or ported, and how much power you will have available to feed them.

 

k first i have to ask ate they single or dual voice coil subs.

and 4 8ohm loads is only 2 ohms when wired in parallel or is my math way off?
so would you not want either the dual 2's(4 ohm per sub 1 ohm total), dual 8's(4 ohm per sub 1 ohm total), or single 4's(4 ohm per sub 1 ohm total.)??????

 

yeah you're right my math was off. not sure what amp I'll be using, will match it to the subs though. either the kicker zx1000.1(not sure if thats peak or rms as their sight doesnt specify) or jl 1000/1

Also it'll more likely be sealed, thats all Ive ever had, keeps things nice and toight, lol. as far as space well honestly I havent even measured it yet. lol again.
