duk......the only reason to sanction an event is if people are going to finals, very few go to finals that attend our shows so its a waste of money to pay the sanctioning fees to anyone and like i stated earlier we had better attendance this year at our shows than any year with chevrette so it would seem that unsanctioned shows that run smoothly and are fun are more what competitors are looking for.....we gave away 50" plasmas this year and more prizes than ever before.....we are, and judging by attendance, the competitors are very happy with our new sq format as well as the spl format. i have spoken with joe from paradise and he doesnt want a repeat of the problem that was created last year and he wont be holding his show on the hot night in the city weekend, as usual my store in kelowna will be holding its show 2 wseeks after the hoynite show in august......... i believe the dates are the 9th and 23rd of august.....the other 4 show dates will be announced shortly...........thanks.................dave

^ I assume this is Dave using DJ's account?
And while, yes the shows are certainly popular and now can stand on their own without sanctioning, there is no way you can say that they would have gotten anywhere in the first year or two without having that organized sanctioning lending credit to what you were doing. People heard dBDrag/USACi and they came. If it was 'hey wants a bunch of people to come get judged by Dave' I just don't think the turnout would have been the same. I recall you're own car going to finals for those sanctioning bodies and you get mileage and credibility because of it. The smart part was where you took that draw and grew it into what you have now.
500 people showing up on a backroad to do some side by side straight line racing may be fun and exciting but it is not the same as an NHRA event. That is all I was trying to say. Please don't think I was bagging on your efforts - I've been trying to get to the Kelowna show for 3 years just to witness it. You are rightly proud of what you do - don't stop.
