the law
Police in my area absolutly Rock.. I only know one individual that got mentioned to about playing there stereo loud in a vehicle.. those 15" L7's sure get loud.. but it was just a informal warning.. no license checked or anything..
We always head up to the commercial area.. closest motel/residential area is a good 400 yards away so we never really bother anyone..
Its all in the Officers opinion to ticket you, they have the final say.. I find being kind and show respect then you mostly will not receive a ticket..
Everyone should be responsible.. especially when your over 115db..

I may be mistaken, but I think a noise violation would be anything louder than 113Db, past 11pm. Should the constable hand you a ticket, you can ask him in court what device he used to measure for the noise level, if he didn't have a mesuring device, I would venture to say that the judge will not want to hear the case, and dismiss it.
If you want to attract attention to yourself, chances are, you will.

JohnVroom- it definatly isnt a neigbour,i live out in the middle of no where in a small spaced out community type thing, as soon as i pass the sign that says im neer i turn it off, not down but off, so it isnt a neigbour, its probably just some idiot complaining, because i am sensible on how i ply my music, like i wont do it thru residential areas at all because i dont go thru them, its a waste of time...
but anyways i just figure its over exadguration, people around here, including my mom, her b/f and his brother over exagerate everything, if it was one person looking at me funney they would tell everyone that its the whole town or w/e they wanna call it....i geuss they just dont wanna see me get in trouble or w/e....but yea, im not really worried about it, just curious...thnx

If you wish another example to get this point across then think of window tinting. There is no grade of window tint that is the defining number for too dark. The industry doesn't say 50% is fine but 55% is considered illegal. A ticket can be given if the officer cannot see you through the necessary windows (stated by law) during the amount of sunlight at the time of the stop.
What may be visible during one day may be different by 10% on another. Officer's discretion.
So as far as noise violation is concerned; if the officer believes the noise to be in excess then the ticket can be given.
I think it depends on the officer, and where you are. Back in the 90's in Lacombe, AB there was one officer, who used to pull me and my buddies over for the loud bass, and try to ticket us. But there was another officer, I belive her name was Chistien, who pulled my buddy Chad (RIP) and I over in his Malibu, and told us to turn it down, unless we were playing the Eagles! I don't think u would see that happen in bigger centers though!
simple enough...
turn it down whne you need to, and be responsible...
when i am at a red light, i always turn it down, btu once i get going again... i turn it back up, but always haverespect for those people that are beside you and behind you.
i know my mom can hear me coming from about 2 blocks away.... and i am no where near my 140 that i CAN hit. i may be freakishly close tho
and i do play it loud myself, i like it, but when i have other people in the car, or am in traffic, i won't bump it tooloud, just out of respect

Mat: in ontario cops don't have to have a reason to pull you over. all they have to do is cite "suspicious behavior" which can be anything they want. if you turn a corner and the cop sees you, he can argue that you were trying to evade him or her and that that was suspicious. I had a cop pull me over for absolutely no reason, simply because I made a left hand turn. Then she ran my plates wrong and thought I'd stolen the car.
you don't have to give them a reason to pull you over, they can do it whenever they want, and 10 over is still a ticket, if they catch you doing 5 over, they can pull you over if they want and give you a speeding ticket, and a noise ticket, and anything else they want, they don't have to actually prove anything in court.
