Little Help Please

Alright I'm looking to upgrade my stock stereo but I need some major help. I don't know much about car audio but I do know the basics. I'm looking to spend about $500-$700. I want something that will pump but lets not get crazy. I was thinking of 2 10" subs or maybe even one 12". I would rather it be loud then look nice so basically I want a good sub and a good amp, the deck just has to play cds lol. Oh and the system would be going into a 2003 Cavalier. I just need some advice on what goes good together and what sounds better.

Alright my plans have changed a bit here. I still know nothing about car audio but hey I'm here to learn. I'll go over what I'm looking for again because some things have changed. I want to buy something in town so my options are Alpine, Clarion, Kenwood, Audiobahn?, Panosonic, and anything from futureshop. I'm looking for either two 10" subs or one 12" and an amp to power them. Hopeing to keep this all under $1000 that includes install, wiring, and anything else I will need. I'm leaning more towards the alpine type R's or possibly MTX. Please help me out.
