Looking for Expertise Knowledge.

Hi there,
I am looking for some expertise knowledge for some installs/upgrades to my car.
I have a 1996 grand Am se Coupe.
I currently have a older panasonic head unit.
I have Recently installed a 12" Jbl gto1204bp and a Clarion 300watt amp.
I am looking for some upgrades to my front 4x6's, the Rear 6x9's and a new head unit.
Any suggestions?
Preferably one that is the best and one that is the best band for my buck.

Thanx,
the Canadian Car Audio Newbie,
Matt

hey matt welcome
what's your budget? how complicated of install are you looking for? are you looking for a cheap upgrade or do you want to rock loud and not have to worry about blowing or distortion? local buy or online
I'm no expert here but i just purchased some Pioneer Premier TS-D402P 4", and MB Quart DKH 113 5.25" speakers from sonicelectronix.com, for the stock locations on my car (97 Accent) they made a big difference in the sound in my car, the price was decent. they add on boarder fees but not until after you decide to purchase and they give you a total, so no surprises when they show up at your door.
i chose them for the power handling, how low freq they can handle and price
not saying there isn't better out there but these seemed to work for me.
there are so many brands to choose from, i stuck with pioneer and MB quart mostly because i'm familuar with them

Im not looking for anything cheap. But i also dont want anything that is going to break my bank. Im looking for about 1500 for the 4x6's, 6x9's and head unit. I have heard good things about alpine from people i have been talking to. I also listen to alot of music on my ipod touch. How does your Pioneer sound and how much does it push to each channel?

Also i have been reading about putting components where the 4x6 goes... How exactly do you do that? and is it difficult?

ok well that's a better idea, Alpine is good, i've heard good things about thier decks (the higher end modles are excellent) personaly i don't like them but that's just me, their subs type R and X are suppose to be pretty kick *** for the money, they do have a 4x6 and 6x9 models listed.
pretty much anything is a step up from stock, will be much clearer, my pioneer deck deh-p5000ub is on runs 50 watts max to them, i'm going to be hooking up a 4 channel amp this spring.
i can crank them oh say to 50ish before they start to distort, i have them crossed over at 63 hz, not very much midbass at all, but i might change my settings and get sound dampener

as for the components it depends, you would probably have to modify the door panel cover and possibly the door panel it's self to fit a speaker so it doesn't interfere with anything, and find a place to mount your tweeter and run all the wiring lots of measurements and you really need to know what you want.

i was lazy and took the easy way out and just got some 4" coaxials and i am very pleased with them. if you don't want to do all that work for components,i'm sure you could fit a decent sized coaxial speaker up front rather than the 4x6 (better mid bass)

i'd compare a bunch of websites and stores to see what you think would work for you, if you look at the SQ forum there are some nice rides but lots of time and money and planning went into them,
not to deter you but a 96 grand am isn't a show stopper, i would get a very good head unit, and some decent speakers front rear, that way it'll be better than stock and if you get a different vehicle you take the deck and leave the speakers
