so what was the big sparking, did you accidently hook the battery up backwards ???
anyhow before you just condem the amp do some trouble shooting.
get a DMM and check the input voltage to the amp, it will go into protection if the voltage drops too low too (alt may be pooched)

me and smart *** did some trouble shooting... i'm gonan head to lloyd 2 morrow since i already have some stuff i need top get done thier i am going to bring the amp to one of the audio shops and get them to test it.
and i thikn the alt may be on its way out... i was barly able to kee othe car running...
a couple times i was reduced to manual steering. so i decicded to not go 4 blocks to my buddys house. i think the truck battery was way to much for her. i will get the alt tested tomorrow at the shop.

the capacity of the battery does not matter to the car.
you will not hurt a car putting a 1000cca battery in place of it's stock 400cca battery
but anyways, it sounds to me like your car has some electrical problems at his point, I'd worry about fixing that 1st then retry the amp.

well i'm going to lloyd any ways. so i will get it tested since i'm thier. the amp is sitting right next to me as i type. i'm really wishing i would not have to replace anything... my budget really does not allow for it, but i need a car to run.
now i know why i have been sober going on 3 months... i never have any cash... :S
