New PAS review on Zed Audio amp
So what you are saying is that in PAS mag the reviews have nothing to do with the products advertised in the magazine? Full page, half page or even a quarter page, doesnt matter.
Just tell me yes or no, that's it.
dont tell me you actually believe that is the case these days. In PAS mag u wont get a rave review, you wont get any review for that matter, if your product is not advertised in the magazine.
Tell me what you believe the process is for picking the next product to give a positive review to? Just tell me that.
Just for jokes call their Ad Sales department, tell them you want to run a 6 months long ad in the magazine for your XYZ product, after that ask them if they could do anything about a "good review" for your product. You will come to find out that a "good review" is feature of your advertising deal.
Try it.
Just tell me yes or no, that's it.
Companies that do not advertise, or in this case, do not advertise a lot, can get rave reviews, and this fact alone clearly disproves your statement.

To me it reads as though the OP has a personal connection to the supplier of the amp and is trying to get the word out. This person also appears to have some degree of advertising background. Is this true?

Regardless of any associations or not, who he is and what he has done in the industry is something that not many people understand or can come close to realizing.

Not judging the person and any qualifications, but to me his post reeks of a spam type advertisment for a amplifier manufacturer that can also appear to be quantified by his apparent knowledge of advertising and the ability to get the message across. If he has the amp and is happy with it, great, no problems with that at all. Can it be done in perhaps a more subtle manner, definitely.

From my experience IN the automotive print media industry, and from my experience working with some of those who DO work at PAS, I can say that in 9/10 instances opinions are bought and paid for in one way or another.
But truthfully I don't read PAS.

so I guess I will just have 'to punt.'
Happy?
But, my point was that your statment, which I quote:
The quality of review is directly related to the size of the Ad on the next page.
So that makes it clear that, according to you, the size of the advert,
DOES matter. I now appears that you are now just trying to minimzie this absurd
and know-it-all statement...
As far as I am concerned, GREAT reviews, by qualified professionals, as GS clearly
IS, cannot be bought. Great products, which measure and sound great, are how
you get a great review. If you doubt this, try this on for size and see what you
think (no advertising here, as far as I can see, nor on the below Car Audio Zed review).
http://www.audiogearreviews.com/reviews/amplifiers/review-zed-audio-leviathan.asp
http://www.caraudiomag.com/reviews/caep_0707_zed_audio_gladius/index.html
I think we are now off topic, and I have already given examples that clearly
support my postion, so I am done.
Cheers!
Rick

Incidentally I agree with MR2NR. The vehement defense of the article tends to indicate a vested interest in the product. In my experience, when someone does us the "favour" of informing us of a product review or a product unveiling, they usually have something to personally gain from it.
