Noob has a question about DSP
#11
yeah it's 1st generation DSP which was popular in the 90's and early 2000's. Like everything else, the good versions were good, or at least enjoyable, the bad were just plain bad. Most of the car audio big guns, alpine, pioneer, clarion, kenwood, and sony all had some form of it or another. OP if you want that, you can get an Alpine era-g320...regularly on ebay, it has eq, multiple venue dsp..stadium, church, concert hall, etc... and it's one of the best units for that sort of thing.

Anyways, why don't these brands put in these features anymore??? Very puzzling.
Are there some smaller or boutique brands that have this stuff?

I guess I'll have to keep looking for it or something else.

Since the Alpine G320 unit is only available for Alpine head units, that's a no-go for me.
I found something that might be worthwhile, either the Pioneer DEQ-7600 or DEQ 9200.
Both are older units, I just don't know which is newer and which is older... as there is very little literature on them online. Also reviews are pretty sparse.
Does anyone know about these units, any experience?

alpine g320 has rca inputs and separate remote control for all it's functions...meaning it works with all head units. Here is the manual to give you some idea of it's functions;

Someone pointed me to the Audison Bit-1.... after researching, turns out it's a big headache and it's buggy too. It looked really promising. Sure seems that options are very limited... I find that so unbelievable.

I found more products, wonder if anyone can comment.
Rockford Fosgate 3sixty.1 and 3sixty.2
JBL MS-8
AudioControl DQX(S)
Audison Bit-One (already mentioned)
Alpine PXE-H650
There's a in-depth review of the 3sixty.2 here: Rockford Fosgate 3Sixty.2 -Long- Review - E46Fanatics
... it sounds buggy too, but not half as buggy as the Audison Bit-One sounds.
Then there's the JBL MS-8 - I found no comprehensive reviews. Is it even out yet? Rumoured to be very pricey.
The AudioControl stuff has no delay settings for the speakers... so forget that. How does one achieve staging without it????
Alpine PXE-H650.... I don't get it. It has some system with a microphone to correct the sound for you, automatically setting the EQ. But it doesn't explicitly mention allowing you to override the frequency/decibel settings. However, I did find somewhere mentioning you could override delay settings. Then there's the question of how compatible it is with any head unit that isn't Alpine. Too many questions on this one.
Merry Christmas everyone, by the way.....

none of those have what you are looking for...dsp venues like concert hall, church, live etc... they very diffferent from what you are looking for, and are more geared towards high end SQ tuning than just sound manipulation for entertainment. The era g320 is still always available on ebay from month to month as used equipment. I've owned the era, and currently own a pxa-h701 and rux c701 controller, so i'm quite familiar with the products and what they do. The era can be used for some serious tuning, but is more geared towards sound enjoyment, whereas the pxa is for serious sound tuning towards SQ set ups.
