Grass roots people? I just got a frantic phone call from a car owner we partially sponsored that she wants 30 items overnighted to cali, so she can install it before her show on saturday and sema on sunday.

I wish grass roots people could be more professional. I also wish this one kid with a 1994 mercury tracer would stop spamming my e-mail with his constant pleas for sponsorship of any kind. When will people realize a Ford Escort front end conversion is not a turn on anymore?

/end rant

Christ I have that guy too, is he from ONT? he went right to the head office looking for a sponsorship. Now I'm not the kind of guy to crush someone’s dreams but I can't see us using this car as a display car so its of little value to me..

Now Reps/Dealers I bend over backwards to help if I can, we expect a certain amount of commitment on the other end as well..

You bring to me a rendering/car with the performance end done and paint and body work hey I’m far more inclined to help out rather then if you just tell me this is what I’m doing so give me gear.. Commitment peoples.

The fact is if we sponsor our reps were far better off then any amount of competitors. Reps get the dealers DEALERS< look after our consumers no amount of advertising can do more for a manufactures rep then a dealer can do in 15 min with a customer.

PASMAG helps out reps in selling the line so it’s a vicious circle.

He is from the states just south of the border I think (MI), if it's the same guy. I just raised him as an example, because he has a pre-canned e-mail that he sends out and I've got it for 3 diff. brands now. He also re-sends them quarterly.

I would never reply to him in a negative way even if he is spamming, but it is somewhat discouraging when you associate him with the term "grass roots"...

This is a good post....

In regaurds to mags being a good media to advertise with, I guess it all depends on the advertiser. We have a three page feature of the Blue VW GTI in Octobers issue of PAS, in this there is a picture where you can read our phone # clearly, and the June Issue of Hot Compact and Import mag the same car is on the cover and has 4 pages inside, where on one of the pics you again can read our phone #, yet for us neither has not generated a single phone call. So for me I would say that I would be at no real advantage to advertise with PAS or any other mag. But that is just the situation with us.

Take Cameron Gunn of Gunn Soundz, he built the Acura bot which was huge and got alot of mag exposure. For him that worked great, he is busy as hell, always asks us to come give him a hand. Now I also understand that the caliber of the 2 cars is different but on the same token I would figure it would have generated atleast one phone call.

In our experiences with print advertising, the only thing that it sells for us is remote starters?!?!?!!?!

I saw that car, looked to be a Kankar input. First thing I thought was good for them little exposure never hurt anyone.. Advertising is only 1 part of the big picture, networking and using your advertising to its full advantage is needed.
We have been advertising for 3 years, its been a very long slow investment I agree but this year I have had more calls then the last 2 combined.
Pas is changing things up and I'd say its working. Not to say it’s a perfect development.

Look at the cars your up against in this magazine. Did yours meet the standards? Doesn’t matter it better excel all of them if you want real attention!(Acura bot ) I personally will go work with a shop I have experience with over a new one that I have seen one car come out of in PasMag.. Should have compounded your exposure with a well placed add right next to the car you would have gotten a calls. To see your phone # I have to read the article, I didn’t I looked at the photos judged them and moved on, it showed me the guys at perfect tones knows what there doing no doubt..

We had out disappointments for sure, the cover Macrom car was shown on page 55 our add for that magazine came out on page 155, I just about . That was inexcusable and it has been dealt with. I will never get that back but I will play it to my advantage in the future.
