quality of futureshop products

Hi I am kindda of new to vehicle audio and I was just wondering how is the quality of futureshop stuff. I am just hearing about mtx and infinity and stuff. Why dont they have any pioneers, alpines, and other brand names for subs and amps?

FS/BB carry all of the brands you mentioned, however most people with some car audio experience under thier belt find them horribly overpriced.

MTX, Pioneer, etc are not bad names by any means, but once you start getting in to this hobby you realize thier are many, many other options (cue Rob about here ).

I dont think pioneer is a bad name I know its good I have heard their products in cars before I am just not sure of mtx and infinity. Do they have like honest measurements of their products like peak power and rms and stuff? Anyways I probably wont buy and sub/amp from futureshop or best buy. Either local stores or internet. But from personal experience I would say local shops cost more in amps and subs then future or other big stores.

FS is a scew company. This means that they carry limited items from limited lines, generally the ones that they can sell easily. Makes good business sense but it leaves the customer very few choices. This is where a specialty dealer like myself comes in. Specialty dealers have far more choices for you. This means that we can find exactly what you need instead of pronouncing what is available in the store only as the best item for you (and then force you to buy a warranty on it as well.....). Add me to msn if you like, it is easier to talk there. I would be happy to build up a system for you and provide you with exactly what you need and give you the solid information that you need to make a proper decision.

Hi I was just browsing this site on what they had and all the names for sub/amp I have never heard of. Are these like comparable to jbl, kenwood, alipine and other brands?

Ramon, keep asking questions. And don't make purchase decisions to hastily. Patience is a virtue - the more time you take to learn about what makes a system "work", the better off you'll be.

Don't shy away from what is available at FutureShop/BestBuy. Just keep in mind that specialized audio shops will have a better idea whether or not that product is right for you - assuming their honest people.

Like MR2NR said, stores like FutureShop have limited options available to the customer. They're not always bad options, either.

Just learn. Get opinions - and form your own.

Its fun.

all those brands have low, mid, and high end lines...FS/BB etc.. tend to carry their low to mid lines. As far as MTX and Infinity, both have been around in the car audio business for over 20 years making good to very good equipment overall with excellent reliability. They're on the same level as Alpine, Pioneer, Kenwood etc...

True I am a noob but not totally committed to brand names. I am looking around for shops in toronto right now that can give me variety in audio equipment. I am getting either an audi a4 or a6 soon so I am just looking around for shops and getting info on what makes them tick.

thanks for the responses.

IMHO store like BB and FS shouldn't touch car audio.
