I've been to a few independent stores that make FutureShop and Best Buy look good.

I guess you work for a mom & pop shop eh? Sorry my personal exp. is 99% crap from MOM & POP places.

THE ONLY PLACE I've received excellent service is with Davis from Selective Sound in the GTA. Did my alarm on my old 2000 Civic SiR and ordered in a few wiring adapters w/o any issues. The other shops I've been to couldn't be bothered. If it wasn't on the shell then too bad.

Hahaha! Amen Brotha! lol

Its sad, but true. I've had the same experience. Fortunately, my luck is changing. Ask which shops people have had good experience with, and gravitate towards them.

When I used to work in a shop back in the day - we used to get the customers from FS tell us this is what they sold me and this is what they did you my car. Talk about a nightmare. When I worked at FS for 4 months I couldn't believe the short cuts the main installer took. No solder or even crimp caps. Just cut and twist and tape. This is on $500 alarm and or remote start jobs or Hu install.

Half the sale reps were coming to me to understand impedance loads and qhat worked with what. One sales guy sold an Eclipse deck with an infinity sub saying he could used deck power. The very next day he came back and the sale guy blame me and said that I told him....I left the company right after that very moment and the sales guy got fired. He wanted to fight me in the parking lots but the cops took him away! (don't ask which store cause I can't say)

The last time I' was in FS looking for a basic 1cuft test box the guy told me I needed two 12" instead. So I asked him why....he said more bass. Do I want more bass, I said....yes you always want more bass it the only thing that matters in car audio. Soo is a college education and I walked out!

I could tell everyone so many horror stories and funny ones - but I think done

LOL are you serious. Oh man I wasnt gonna go to futureshop and now I can put a nice backup story to it. Was the store in toronto? can you give me hint in what area. Oh and also I am thinking of getting two 10 or 12 inch subs, but I am not too sure about what amp would go with the two subs. I see these mond channel ones and I was wondering if they work or does the amp need two channels.

I also worked for a great store in Sarnia Ontario called Pure Power - John and Claudio both came from an electronics back ground and always stood up to their work. Which is why they are still open and doing very well! I've had conversations with many shops and half of them know their products inside and out but some don't care.

Selective Sound is another from me. I bought my Eclipse Cd7200 from them and the i pod control was making noise at high volumes and Davis knew the what the problem was before I finished my sentence.
