Question about wiring 2x JLw6

So if 12 years ago I had hooked up a set of subs with 1 coil only on each and they are still going strong today, this is wrong? If I go to my store today and rewire my entire board with 1 coil only, they will not work because they are not designed to work in that configuration and it is not recommended so do not do it. Well, neither is burping a sub...... neither is playing it for a long extended persiod of time, neither is playing Milli Vanilli on your system..... perhaps with the addition of a resistor on the unused coil you would be happy?
If a guy has a dvc sub and one coil is wide open, you are telling him that he cannot use the sub anymore? Give your head a shake dude. Go get a sub, unsolder the tinsel lead on one end making it wide open and hook it up and let it go. It will operate just fine be it with decreased power handling. You still have the same coil going in and out of the same magnet, attached to the same speaker cone. Then come back here in 5 years and tell me it is not working and because the manufacturer said so, it must be so.
And again, I want to learn and keep an open mind so please substantiate what you quoted as well.

You might be correct, it should not affect how the sub works since the flux of magnetic field created by the magnet is uniform everywhere in the hole of the magnet... however this will put extra strain on the VC, which will make it more fragile, and it (with theory) wont perform as if you hooked up both VC's.... I dont think the output will be even 50% of DVC..... and You wont be able to even put 50% of the power that the sub is rated at... (that's all with theory- never experimented with that- and i know many theories don't really apply to "real" life since the conditions are never as predicted- you rarely have perfect environment)
P.s. - adding a resistor or a VC that is not inside the application, wont help nor affect the system... its all about the configuration of VC and not resistance... its a gradient of magnetic field that we have to worry about- IMO hooking up DVC in SVC will make it just a SVC sub which will be more fragile and have way less output since all other components of the sub were designed for two time the force that one VC in that sub will create- also moving the voice coil off the centre maight bring slight changes in the gradient of magnetic field....
