Fixed my amp, yay! Now issue is that if I turn on ignition to accessory, not even starting car, radio off (or on), I get this buzzing in all the speakers.

If I start the car and give it gas, it sounds like typical alternator whine.

Is it bad ground or is it RCA cables possibly next to some form of power in other wires?

Wishing to have music again, and not a lot of time to figure it out or re-run wire, booked appt. with Burlington Radioactive for them to look at it today. Hoping it's an easy fix.

 

Bad ground and innapropiately set gains, with your RCA's or speaker wiring running close to the cars BCM

 

That was my first thought, so thought I'd have an installer look at it and assist in the troubleshooting. Just got back from Burlington Radioactive, after trying a few different things, to fully confirm what we thought, tried a similar Kenwood deck hooked up and it was fine.

Deck pre-outs were bad/affected. I still have 6 months warranty left on the deck, so it's getting sent to Kenwood for repair/replacement. Happier than a pig in $hit, as my worst fear was my amp having an issue.

 

Wow with a kenwood.. that's a common Pioneer problem with the little pico fuse on the boards frying

Wait a second though...

If your deck is off then so is your amplifier, shouldn't the speakers not be getting any power at all? How can there be interference caused by the headunit/amplifier if they're both off and not receiving/sending a signal?

 

With headunit off, there's still technically "some" power to it, and my amps turn on via ignition accessory for the remote on, so amps are powered even if headunit is off.

First guess is its still bad ground, Not technically bad contact like you would think, im my car my original ground caused a loop where the antenna had a chassis ground connected near by.
Easy way to isolate the issue is get an ipod and a stereo mini (headphone plug) to RCA plug and use the ipod right into the amp as a source instead of the headunit this makes it easy to rule that and the RCA's running back if it still does it.
I have had the issue it sucks. LEE is a great guy I was in to see him today, he should help you out.

 

I think everything should be good now. We pretty much determined that the pre-outs on the deck were screwed, and with the deck still under warranty, they had it shipped out to get it repaired/replaced. Bad part is that I have to wait for it to get back now, and hoping it may come back earlier this week (before long weekend).

The final confirmation of what was causing the issue, was hooking up another Kenwood deck, and there was no buzz/noise in the speakers. I lucked out that my amps are ok, and won't have to re-run my wiring.
