Major radio whine

Hello everyone, I installed a stereo in my car a few months ago and have been getting major whining on the radio. Sometimes I cannot hear the radio the whine is so loud! Am seems to be way worse than FM. Is there any way to fix this? or is it just a problem with my antenna? any help is appreciated

What is the brand?

I'm under the belief that you get what you pay for. Cheap radio price = cheap radio components.

Also, did you connect the power antenna wire?

I would try pulling out the deck and moving around wires in the back of the unit to see if any of them are causing even more interference into the radio signal.

At one time I had crystal clear AM, but these days not so much

When you`re back there doing what Sine advised, you may want to change where the factory ground is for the HU also. Perhaps ground it back to the battery.
Then look up ground loops to understand why

He's correct about this.

My deck is grounded to the factory wire harness, And my amp is grounded to a chassis bolt.

With two different ground locations like that it will make a loop and COULD cause alternator wine, hissing sounds, pops.

^^ I understand this however it is only when I listen to the radio. Bluetooth, USB, aux, and cd are all fine it is only the antenna. If a ground loop problem is with the antenna how do I ground the antenna?

You can get adapters for the antenna to reduce noise.

put a cap on your power antenna wire. re ground your deck to a solid, bare metal.
