Square root of total RMS?
Square root of total RMS?
Im trying to figure out what to set my gains to and i read i just take my total RMS and find the the square root of it. and set my gains to that number, is this correct? thanx you in advance to those who post......

here we go more blind misleading the blind.
I will try to explain this as simply as possible.
FORGET WHAT U WERE TOLD PREVIOUSLY!
the gain on your amp is like a scale that needs to be adjusted to your decks output. you want it to be balanced.
ok
step 1. figure out the ouput voltage of your deck, it will range anywhere from 0.5 to 8 volts
step 2. turn the gain dial on the amp to aproximately that voltage setting
step 3. enjoy. remember only turn up the volume on your deck till it begins to distort, then turn it back one or two notches till the sound is clean again.
