Sub/Amp question.
"your easiest bet would be to wire the sub to an 8 ohm load and run the amp mono.. i think you will get the most power out of it this way.. (unless you ran it at 2 ohm, which your saying your amp cant handle)..
but it also would be ok to run 1 voicecoil per channel as long as the outputs are matched.."
If I run the amp at 8ohms it won't damage the amp, but it will be putting out less power than the rated 500 rms at 4 ohms? Also the amp is connected to the sub preout on HU and wouldn't the out put be the same on both channel on the same amp?(if i use 1ch per vc)

if i read correctly somewhere thru out that, i saw that you have a pair of w3v2's both 4ohm dvc.
you were contemplating using one (not sure for what reasons) and wanting to run the amp in stereo, one vc per channel....wait ahh crap 2 channel amp, that screws up all my thoughts....i apologize. If it was a mono amp i was gonna say just wire it all in at 4ohms and give each sub 250...but the 2channel part throws me off.

i wouldn't sugest putting two different channels or even a left and right on a dvc. that seems like a bad idea to me. i would bridge the amp and wire the sub most likely in series (+,-,+,-) that should keep the amp cooler. If you wired it in paralel chances are the amp would pretty hot. Ive always found that a higher resistive load usualy means less heat, and chance of product failure.
in series its an 8 ohm load, paralell, 2ohms, but if you bridge the amp, make sure its capable first or youl have a chance to loose the magic smoke, and we all know, once the smoke leaves the amp, you can never,- ever, put it back in!

My question seems to have been a little confusing, but it has been answerd and thanx for the help.
But this is the story:
At the moment I have a 2 CV12D4's running off a USA-150x. The subs are wired to a 4ohm load and the amp puts out 500rms at 4 ohms. This works fine but, the box is huge and now I want some trunk space back. There for I am only gonna be using 1 12 in the system. Because the vegas are DVC 4ohm it creates a problem, cause the amp is not 2ohm stable.
I wanted to get a 12w3 because it needs a smaller box than a vega. However it will be over powered a lot by the amp if i run it in mono. Thats why i wanted to know if it will hurt the amp or the subs if i use 1 ch. per voice coil (150x2=300rms which is the recomended power for the W3)
OR
Use 1 Vega and do the same thing (use 1 channel per voice coil 150x2=300rms)
I did not know that the 8ohm thing was even possible, but now I do. That's what i'm gonna try.
(All these problems cus I don't wanna give up the amp........US Amps are amazing! )

the "be carefull" part is what i'm a fraid of. Don't wanna go nutz one day and blow the sub.
cuz i'm crtain the amps underrated too. I'm probably gonna first see how one of the vegas will sound if i'm not happy i'll look in to getting a new sub. JL or save up more for something that can handel the power.
