Depends on the impedance of the sub I'm not too smart on ohms law but I have an hds315 in my hoe right now and can go up to 4 or 1 ohm because it's dual voice coil ( I'm sure there's other ways to wire it up these are the two big ones). This changes in svc vs dvc subs if you can't upgrade your amp I would look for something less than 1000 rms like and entry level sundown or sound qubed sa e series or hds2 sound qubed both run about 600 rms and are loud and quality subs...underpowering a sub can cause damage over time that and you won't be as satisfied as if you run something you can power correctly
