Ok, here's the deal. I have twin 600RMS Alpine amps one for each of my subs. And before anyone asks each sub has it's own compartment. I want to tune these amps as close as possible and this is how I intend to do it but I wanted to ask if it seems proper or if someone knows somthing else I can do ontop of it.

Ok, first thing bring the amps into my office and manually tune them approx equal. Then hook them up in my car without a load. Turn on the deck, adjust the volume to about 30/35 (Alpine 9815 if anyones wondering) and the sub out probably to 12/15 so nothing is being overdriven. Then using one of my test bench's true RMS meters pop in a CD with a 35hz frequency and check the outputs, voltage = sqrt(600x4) so dial in for about 49VAC comming out of the amps.

Now, that's basically the begining for me, I'm going to try and grab a few of our power resistors we use to test our home amps (250W @ 8.4ohm resistors) and hook them up to the amps as a dummy 4ohm load and then try to swipe one of our digital oscilioscopes to really tune in the amps, get multiple frequency CD so I can adjust the crossovers as close as possible, and I could even check out the sub RCA's to make sure they are giving a clean signal.

But yeah, how does that sound for initial testing? Can anyone make anymore sugestions of things I could do or do I have the right idea already?

If you have the tools to do it, I figure might as well make them as close to perfect as possible! But yeah, I've shut off all the amps crossovers and parametric EQ etc and will just use the deck's built in controls since they seem pretty good already. Less filtering = cleaner sound as far as I'm concerned
