adjusting RTAs
#1
At the past few events that I have been to. I have noticed that the judges running the RTAs will adjust the ***** on the front of the machine. Is this normal. Now the only reason I ask is because I witnessed a vehical being measured and he held a stedy db untill the judge adjusted one of the *****. Now right away this does not seem right, yet I am still new and dont know all the politics. I 'd like to get some thoughts on the matter....

On the Audiocontrol meter adjusting the range will not affect the score, however there is a knog beside that one that will vary the sensitivity +/- 10 db that will affect the reading and should never be touched during a run.
Sometimes it's hard to guess the range a vehiclewill be in as one car with a pair of twelves and one amp will hit 130 db and the next will have pretty much the same configuration and hit 150 db.
