Tweeter Advice

So I finally got my stereo all setup (still tweaking settings), and I'm pretty happy for the most part. However, my tweeters are a bit of an issue. I have set the crossovers at -3 db and turned down the treble level on my deck (alpine iva-w505), but they still seem to be pretty harsh. Any ideas I could try, or am I boned without a processor?

Try aiming them in a different direction.

I think that is part of the problem. I have them in the stock location (08 civic, bouncing off the monster windshield).

Anyone have tips for tuning the w505? Is there a better treble frequency I should be adjusting?

Try covering the tweeter with cloth or even tape. It will help dampen the sound a bit.

Get soft dome tweeters. They're much softer on the ears. It's a great location for sq in that spot. Spend $150.00 or more on a pair that will provide the sound option that you want. I would suggest Polk Audio, Hybrid Audio or DD tweeters. They've blown me away in that location.

I'll try and cover them up in the next couple days, see if that helps things.

Would there be any point going with a different tweet if I don't change my crossover?
