What a ****ing bunch of tools

I'm pissed, I've been waiting for 10 days for these guys at Gain Mobile Electronics to build me a box for my 05 RE XXX 12. It was finished today, made out of 1" MDF for $300, it looks great, and looks like the size it should be and all (2.2 cuft), only when I asked what the port tuning was, the guy didn't know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I TOLD THEM to tune it to 35hz, and I gave them the XXX specs to run it through winisd, which they DONT EVEN HAVE!!!!! I asked him how he determined the freq. of the box, and he said "the other dimensions of the box gave it".......riiiiiight. Does anybody want to run these specs through winisd for me to make sure it's not tuned at 100hz? Thanks. He told me the amp determins the frequency of the sound being played. What a bunch of ****ing idiots. He also had it connected to a 75W amp, then proceeded to tell me that too-little power will cause distortion and blow it up. Nice.

Internal size = 2.2 cuft
Port internal = 24" x 2 1/2" x 12"
Box internal = 12" x 12" x 28"
XXX displacement = .2 cuft

He also used the 2008 XXX box recommendation as he said "it was on their website", the old site is down. His dog also licked and drooled all over the cone and surround, and he stood there. One guy asks me for specs so he could run it through winisd and the other guy tells me they don't have it, wtf is that ?

he was right about the amp being the main factor in which frequency is being played.

you are either too angry or too nooby. the specs you posted provide port tuning of 35hz. what are you complaining about?

did you even measure the box and port to makesure they built it to the spec? maybe you should have done the measurments and math first before having an emotional out burts.

btw, you dont need winsd to figure out port tuning, so why would it be such a big deal if they didnt have it? I dont have or use that program either.

and i hope the box at least carpeted cuz $300 for a 2 cube box is a rip and a half.

Sure I'm a noob but I know quite a bit. No, I didn't measure the box to spec, I didn't give them box specs. I know the amp sends the main freq, but I wasn't talking about an amp I was talking about the box tuning, which he couldn't tell me, he built it so I thought he should have known. I'm not going to drop $300 (carpeted, black slot port) for something that isn't exactly what I asked for, would you?

$300 is a little on the high side, but still decent from a retailer. I agree with you that the builder should know what the tuning frequency is.

Not sure I follow Yuli about how about how the amp is the main factor in which frequency is being played. I understand that a subwoofer is just a slave to the amplifier if that is the reference.

And you may be over reacting a little. IMHO

Well actually the CD tells the HU and the HU tells the amp and the amp drives the sub...

The box tuning basically sets where the sub can and cannot perform

The allignment and response curves are what you should be concearned about...

given the dimensions of the box, port, and sub displacment it looks like your sub will see 1.59 cubic feet and is tuned around 37Hz

So basically you asked for a box tuned to 35hz and you got it and you are still complaining? wow and they are the tools? i must be confused.......lol
And by the way you dont need Winisd, which is not all that great anyways. They went to manufacture site for the specs and built you a box, nothing wrong with that.
