alright boys, I went out any got myself 2 10s of those pioneers we were talking about.

next question --> which amp ? I dont want anything super expensive, but its gotta be reliable. Any suggestions ?

The subs are rated at 350 W rms, with 700 W peak. They're 4 ohm SVCs, so wire them in parallel to get a 2 ohm load.

Another thing to consider is a sub-sonic filter. I know the pros about it, and apparently you only really need one if your box is tuned over 35 Hz or so , which mine won't be.

But lets just stick to amp suggestions for now :-D

Read the reviews on it, sounds perfect. I heard this amp running an Eclipse 10", it sounded excellent. Not cheap, but quality usually isn't. Either that or check these out: http://www.edesignaudio.com/ep/ampspec/tsunamispec.htm
GCA has the 1100 and the 1800 for a really good price, talk to Jon there. Hope this helps man.

Cool

i have had excellent results with that model of pioneer, they hammer like crazy in a ported box & they sound good too.beefy motor & magnet, makes me think they are trying to make up for all the previous years of so so "economy subs".i will try 1400wrms each on a few to see if they'll take it,i'm sure they will too

Cool, will do that.

Guys ... I was doing some research on subs/amps today , and someone (a fellow IS 300 owner) bought something up that I hadn't ever thought of ..... he said that the trunks of the IS 300s are very well sealed , so a lot of sound doesn't get through when you add a system (or something like that)

Do you guys know anything about this ? I have 2 10s ready to go, but due to his comment , I am contemplating whether the 'bump' will be sufficient.

Post your comments here. Thanks

Thumbs up

That MTX amp will be a little much for those subs....this one: http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pro...d=&newdeptid=9 or this one: http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pro...d=&newdeptid=9 would probably do the trick, and be a bit easier on the wallet as well. Kenwood has a small mono sub amp (forget the model #) that would give each sub around 115W or so. To get all that bass out of the trunk, you may need to modify the back deck a little, or maybe just pull the speakers out of it.

Good luck with the new toys...
