What Size of Fuse to Use???

Hey folks, a friend of mine is hooking up some gauges in his car and wants to run a fuse. What would be the appropriated size fuse to run the gauges. I know this is a vague question but any help would be appreciated. Thanks

If the gauges don't come with an in line fuse holder, then I would put one in. If they are good gauges (mechanical) then you only need power for the back lighting, so I'd start as low as possible, say 5 amp.

If the gauges are electrical with transducers then I would probably go 10 amp, but maybe start with a 5 amp and see.

Keep in mind, it sounds low, but most 12v accessory outlets are only fused to 20 amp and they will draw one helluva lot more load than gauges will, depending on whats plugged into them of course.

Cheers
