If you have a sub that has 2 coils that are 2ohms each, wire the coils in series. this will give you 4 ohms. so the + from one coil to the - of the other coil. Do this on both subs and then wire the free + and - to the terminals and you will have a 2 ohm load.

Yes, just like whosit said. 4ohms to each terminal. 4ohms wired in parallel with 4 ohms gives you an overall impedance of 2 ohms.

Yes get the dual 2ohm coil subs. Wire each sub like this, then just attach to the + & - to the terminals on your amp. Do this with the other sub to the other + & - on your amp and voila 2ohms.

Thanks man I try to help when I can. I know I can understand things like this a lot easier if I have a diagram of how it looks.

Have a look here man: Rockford Fosgate® - P2D212=

Its on R/F website but is very helpful. Mono amps are only one channel. The 2 connections are there for your conv. only. The majority of those amps are internally wired in parallel so if you leave the subs at 4ohms EACH, then hook up one per terminal, you will have a final load of 2 ohms.

cheers

Damn you guys are good, I understand now 100%. Even made I diagram so I dont forget.

Now that that is established, how can I determine how many watts are running through each voice coil per sub. For example, my amp is 1200 watts rms. Since I am not bridging the wires, I have 600 watts rms going to each sub. And since there are 2 voice coils per sub, I have 300 rms (600 divided by 2 Voice coils) running through each coil. Is this true??

You can't bridge a 1 channel amp. Do you have a 2 or 4 ohm load at the amp? I think you probably have 2 if you are running 2 subs.... But you theory is right. if you have 600watts rms into 2 coils then is giving 300 to each coil.

On another note, is it possible to wire 2-4ohm DVC subs to a mono amp. I have tried some calculations but have not determined a way of doing it. Maybe its not possible.

Thanks again for the help guys, I am very happy to have joined this forum. I Have learned a hell of a lot in the past few days.

So the wattage is divided amoung the coils? Not sure how this works but it makes sense somehow. Btw my amp is 1200 watts at 2 ohm's as you said.
