that is my point exactly. I don't know what size of power wire you have and/or how many runs by if you're using 4gauge, you should run either more runs of it or even go bigger in terms of the size of the power wire you have. that way when the car is running you'll have more voltage going to the amps. More wire = more voltage = less voltage drop = less strobe lights.

since i can get 4 gauge welding wire for free, how many runs do you think i should do? i currently have 1 run, i'm thinking 3 runs total? maybe 4?

If you get if for free then runs 5 runs of each. What type of battery or batteries do you have or do you plan on buying?

running off the stock battery and alternator using a 1 farad cap.

i was looking to get a Kinetik HC800 and put it in the trunk and hope that that solved my dimming issues.

but i basically have no money anymore with insurance so things work fine at the moment, i will see about getting the wiring and see how that does.

Get rid of your cap asap. They add more strain on your charging system in fact. They are glorified volt meters. I had light dimming issues and put a 3 farad cap on and it made it even worse. I did some research into them and found out that they only help to stablize voltage when you actually have more amps from your charging system then what is being drawn from your amp. Think about it. Your cap needs to charge up and then discharge repeatidly. Your cap shoots out its wad in 1/2 a second and then has to suck more juice to fill up again. What a bunch of garbage caps are.

i can see that point, but it did help reduce dimming. i will try taking it out to see how it copes.

How many amps is your alternator and what amp are you running?

as i said above i am going to get some more 4 gauge wire and do a few more runs of it.

You get dimming with that amp off that alt. You should be fine. What size are the fuses on that amp? You don't even need 4 gauge with an amp that small.

80 amp in line and 90 amp built into the amp.

my alternator *may* not be putting out the rated amps as it's going on it's way out.

during a heavy bass song (ludacris - blueberry yum yum) it will drop to 13 volts at idle.

i need to hook up a DMM to the amp directly to see what it's getting though.
