2x the power will be 3db increase
10x the power will be 10db increase
to make some thing 2x louder to the human ear requires an increase of 10db [img]smile.gif[/img]
20db will only be 4x louder [img]smile.gif[/img] but will require 100x the power

the db scale is logarithmic not linear..thats where the confusion comes in [img]smile.gif[/img]
