Another sub thread

I am piecing together a system for a Nissan Titan Crew Cab. I have the front stage covered, but am looking at buying the sub stage now. Either 1 12 or two 10's. I don't care about being loud, or anyone outside hearing it or anything, although I wouldn't say I am a strict SQ guy either. I only want my subs to do fast tight kick drum. I only listen to early 80's and 90's speed metal, so what little bass there is, is kick drums.

Back the last time I spent money on car stereo, I ended up with two Kicker Solobaric 10's, the round S10C's. Is there anything current that is comparable? I have been told a Stereo Integrity Mag 12 V4 is the best choice. THought I would check on here first.

Oh, and I have one constraint, the sub box is going under the back seat, so mounting depth cannot be more than 6 inches, and I likely don't have much more than 1.0 to 1.2cu feet of internal space to utilize.

I do not have an amplifier yet, so power handling shouldn't be an issue.

I got two choices depending on power range
the SSA Dcons are 300w rms
and the Icons are 1000w rms

some of the best sounding woofers I have played with
and they have really decent output (specially on the low stuff)
and they work well in sealed applications

For nice tight kick drums I'd go with 2-10's. Smaller ... Lighter ... faster... accurate and can get pretty loud. There are a huge list of subs that would meet your needs. I'd say your enclosure will play the biggest part in you achieving your goal.

Oh, and THUMPER (above) builds some serious enclosures and he's located fairly close to you. He also sells SSA subs. You couldn't go wrong with a pair of 10" Icons... or even the Dcons if you don't want to be heard for blocks.

the Dcons can be heard from blocks..LOL

I installed a single 10" with a Sony 500w rms amp in a Dodge Spirit
and I can hear him coming from along ways..those things hit the lows
just like the Icons do

interestingly I have a Stereo Integrity Mag 12 V4 right next to me awaiting the opportunity to go in my car, I bought it because I liked its tonality and its low freq performance. They are closing out the product run so if your going to buy one do it soon. SI is introducing their new flat (shallow mount) BM series and they look promising but nobody has seen them yet let alone heard them.

I like that local option too, always good to be in touch with your vendor. There are a lot of good sounding products out there so enjoy the shopping experience

A solid tried and true sub for the shallow mount is the Kenwood Excelon or Pioneer Premiere. Both use a rather small sealed or ported enclosure and are ideally suited to under the seat box designs. The Pioneer TSSW1041D is on sale right now as well.

For your application you should look also into pro audio speakers. They will be tight, super efficient and since you don't need infra they should excel in your application.
