Best Recordabel CDs? Does It Even Matter?
I am not a big techie. I would, however, like to record some mixed CDs for the car and I would like to maxmize the sound quality. Does it matter what brand of CDs I use? Are there other things that I sould be considering dor this process?
Thanks to all.
Lawrence.

if its from mp3's no. even from cd's to computer than mix to make 1 cd. even then no... from cd to wave or mp3 its still compressed and looses quality.
i dont know about other guys but i use memorex lol. and the last time i used one was like 3 years ago. welcome to the age of ipods and usb flash drives
. i hate ipod :P lmao
if your ripping off a cd make sure your ripping at the highest quality. i would say 320kps cause most decks cant do over that anyway. ( damit i want wave lossless )

Qaulity as far as sounding better, no such thing. Digital information is digital information.
Where things do come into play is durability and compatibility. I've had the most amount of "issues" with memorex and sony cdrs.
Verbatim are high quality and seem to be very compatible from one cd player to the next.
Like Danyman said, if you're burning MP3s or any other compressed data to cd, you'll never notice any difference. You would have to get your hands on FLAC, OGG or another lossless format like.
Lossless meaning the files are HUGE compared to MP3s since there isn't much compression taking place.
ipods are garbage for SQ

what do you suggest then instead of ipods for sq? other then flash cards as my deck doesn't have a slot for it? i have noticed that the ipoop sucks lol but oh so convenient i hate flipping through a 200cd folder trying to figure out what to listen to.
Just started doing this myself with a Kenwood X-991 and a Kingston 8gb thumb drive. No more CDs all over the car anymore.
Instant access to over 1000 songs in the car FTMFW.
I just have to find a better way of organizing them so I can actually find what I want. Putting them in one big folder does not work at all well.
I have a few ways to try yet. Most of my burmt CDs are verbatim and I have never had any issues with them in several different brands of factory and aftermarket decks. I have also used Memorex and Maxell as well.HTH
Nick
my deck is an alpine cda-9830, but with the ipod i like the screen to scroll around and pick what i want to hear, and for you 420 guy, with my ipoop i just put them under categories, ie, rock, rap, metal, country, dance, and what ever else you listen to, so at least its all in the same type of music, i hate it all bunched up lol
I have not really ever heard of any brand of CD-R that actually resulted in sounding better than any other CD-R but there are 'esoteric' ones for sale that cost more (marketing ploy I figure). I would assume a CD-R that makes a better quality copy (fewer errors) or is easier for the laser to read then there would be less error correction required and I assume that would sound better. The CD-R's you can see through too easily or have visible pin holes in the metal foil I actively avoid as they just dont strike me as having decent quality construction.
Whatever makes you happy I figure... I like the ones with the blue polycarbonate as they look cool

i have both reg blank cdr's and the ones that look the same on both sides, the ones that look the same on both sides, have actually skipped and messed up on me and they were straight out of the burner, so i only use those for non music applications and stick with a decent brand of blank cdr's.
I bought some verbatim DVD+R's for my car that have a layer of plastic on either side of the disk.. makes them scratch resistant and impervious to moisture/whatever..
regular disks don't seem to last me more then 8-12mths
