Can I split up a single 4" port into two smaller ports?
/\Topic/\
Was wondering if, in hopes of saving enclosure face size, can I split up what needs to be a 4" round port into two smaller ports. And what those messurements would be if someone could help point me in the right direction.
The subs are two 12" Infinity Kappa 122.7w's that call for a ported enclosure of 2.0 cu/ft with one 4" diameter x 12.26" long port. This equates to a tuning frequency of 30 Hz.
[:O O:] <---Bassically want it to look like that where the collons are the ports. Each sub is seperated to be in their own enclosures, just wondering if I can run two smaller ports for each sub to save room so It'll fit in my trunk.

yes you can, but it's not as simple as dividing by 2. In this case, if you use two 3" ports, they would need to be 14.6" long each to have the same tuning. This is because the total area of the ports is larger than the area of the single 4" port ( if you can find pipe with a 2.83" diameter, then 2 of those would have the same area as the 4" port and consequently the same length will work). The larger the port area, the longer the port needs to be to have the same tuning in the same box. If you want to save width, use a common chamber box with a single slot port on one side...12" high x 2.25" wide x 12.125" long will give you the same tuning for a 4 cube box with two 12's. Like this:
