Hi guys. I currently have 2 15" kicker cvr's, hooked up to a KAC9152D. The amp runs 1 and 2 ohm stable putting out 900 rms. I don't mind the 15's for rap, and other slower types of music, but I want to also start sheding some weight, and want my trunk back. I've been looking into getting a single, powerful 12" in a excellent sealed or ported (I want sound quality. Something thats gunna be loud, and hit hard and sound great) box. I wanted to get the JBL wgti 12", but it's 6 ohms. Is their a way that you can run it down to 2 ohms by it self? Or is there a different subwoofer that I would benefit from more, possibly for less? I'm at a loss, so any advice or if someone could point me towards a certain place/someone that would know what I'd be looking for, would be great. Thank you.

Look into Fi Q. Only around 27 lbs. You can get a D1 version and run it at 2 ohms with your amp at 900 watts. Sealed can be done in as little as 1 cube box with a pound of polyfil. And with 27mm xmax it is no slouch for loudness capacity, and it is one of the cleaner subs out there. With your power, I would not go for BP power option, as that upgrade may render the sub a bit less efficient, but that is debatable. You can only get them direct from Fi Audio site, and makes the sub an excellent bang for buck, as there are no middlemen to get their cut from your pocket.

My buddy was in the same shoes and we are getting him one D2 12" as he also did not want weight and space taking up his trunk. We went with BP option and will seal in 1 cube with polyfil, and give it good power at 1 ohm with Sundown 1500D amp which puts out 1500 watts rms easy. That should slam loud and clear.

Also, someone on here is selling a couple of IDMax subs used, and you can take one as that will work very well in your case as well. I think they are D4's so one will work well in your application with same size box.

The unfortunate thing is that any "single powerful 12" will probably weigh as much as your pair of 15s. The enclosure will likely be lighter though.

If you want to be lighter overall, you could try your 15s IB and eliminate the enclosure altogether. Some say this is the ticket to SQ provided you have a sedan or are creative.

A single DD9512 will easily take the power you have and provide a great match of copious amounts of output and great tonal response.

Thank you all for your input. I'm not exactly sure how much one of these 15's weight, but the box with them in it is incredibly heavy, honestly feels like a dead body in my trunk. I have a 1999 hyundai tiburon, so the trunk is a hatch style so I have a bit of space to work with, but not a whole lot.

From what I've read/heard, the Digital Design subwoofers do very well for them selves. Where would I be able to look up prices? And which series of subwoofer would I go with from them? The 2500a? Thank you.
