I've owned 4 of the original Butlers with their tubed line driver and the crossover. Personally they sound extremely sweet. Although I would never use it for a sub, for midbass and higher, they were great. I regret selling them, but I really don't have the room for them as they're quite big. The sound I got from them was not tiring to the ear and can be listened to for long periods at loud volumes. I can't seem to get that from a solidstate.

The newer blues don't give the same sound... less tube sounding, less robust/full bodied

The milberts are by far the best tube amps I've ever heard. I had a chance to hear them at CES a couple years ago. The Tru-Tubes in the porsche at CES was nice... but not convincing enough. I think it could have more potential than that. I suggest waiting on the Tru Tubes to hear more applications from them before purchasing. But I must say, the Copper series is quite nice for a solid state.

yeah... the Tube Driver Blue sounds nothing like the original ones..... its much leaner sounding , strive on details and don't present the instrument as round as the original TD ones did. The parts used in the TD Blues are much cheaper... Bennic caps (Taiwan made) are used through out. and its built like a PPI.. The only good parts are probably the OP-275 Opamp, Sanken outputs, and maybe the Sovtek 6SL7 Tubes.

**Side Note:
The TubeDriver & TD Blues are both SolidState amps with Tube/Opamps inputs... is like you could buy a recording that's done with a Tube preamp or a Tube mixing console and play back with a Solid State Amps.
