Focal X-over setup HELP!
#21
First I made an error in the model # it's the AudioControl DQXS not the DQS - my mistake!
For the Focal 100's - Front - 30 bands, 1/3 octave 25 Hz - 20 kHz
I dropped most of the frequencies and messed with the octaves and gains a whole lot till the staging was just right. I set a few user presets for certain types of music but my main preset is pretty much bang on!
For the Focal 165KBE - Rear - 19 bands, 1/2 octave 32 Hz - 16 kHz
(Awaiting to purchase) - I'll probably have to re-eq the whole car yet again!
For the 2 sealed JL 10w1 - Sub - 16 bands, 1/3 octave 25 Hz - 800 kHz
I ran Bass Mechnics test tones CD from 20hz to 70hz. I used a termpro spl meter to get somewhat flat response +/- 2b. I found this to work quite well and sounded pretty even! The box is tunes to 52HZ.
With the DQXS I now get to use all 3 outputs and precisely adjust gains. All frequencies are either independent or simultaneous for both left & right channels. This made a huge difference with the 100's.
My goal with this car is to bring the stage upfront as much as possible while keeping the sub bass at an optimal volume so they don't drown out the focals! The EQL was pretty decent but this is a whole new world.
I'll post some photos in the near future once everything is done!
Almost done!

This discussion is interesting, I just got a pair of Focal K2P's installed yesterday, and the installer told me the tweeters are the best when pointing to each other as per recommendation from Focal? They're installed in the pillars.
Thanks.
Thanks.

I read the manual of the K2P's, it seems like by turning the plastic piece that is on top of the tweeter is like angling the tweeter? Am I reading something wrong or this is true?
This would be great as the space is very tight, I can't physically angling the tweeter.
Thanks.

Yes, on the TN52 - the tweeter that comes with the K2P's and couple other sets, they have a wave-guide type set-up and rotating the tweeters with change the dispersion pattern giving you more control and a bit more flexibility when installing them.
