Unhappy help with my system

Hey guys.

im new to the forum and pretty new to car audio but i know a fair amount about it. so far in my car i have this system that i have installed myself by just learning.

my door speakers are sony xplod 5 1/4's
rear 6x9's are pioneer 270 watt peak 4 way speakers i cant remember model
Earthquake PH-D2 2000Watt Mono amp . 2000x1 @ 2 ohms
An Audiobahn AW1206T 12" 1100RMS 2200W Peak

the problem i have right now is that when i turn up the bass in my deck to full and go to 13 volume 40 is the max. the sub will sound alright but the 6x9's and the door speakers start to pop and crack making alot of distortion. i want to have my volume to 40 with nice bass and my speakers being loud and clear. im willing to replace these speakers for nicer ones. i just dont want to spend much on them. i also have a jensen 300watt power 2 channel amp that im thinking of running all of my speakers on and putting the amp on high pass filter so it would block bass out completely from the speakers. but if you guys have any suggestions that wont require much money and it will be efficient please help me out. also i got my subwoofer used and i have a feeling that its popped or something because when i turn the volume halfway with the gain 3/4's of the way up at high bass the sub will crack and pop really loud. i just want a nice sound system with nice bass that you can feel outside the car and loud speakers. and i plan on getting some tweeters also.

any help is appreciated
thanks

If i read right, you have no amp for the 4 speakers?

Get a 4 channel amp for the speakers, it will make a big difference over HU power.

I personally was never a fan of Audiobahn. But your sub setup should be okay. The problem you seem to be having with your sub is probably because of your current amp settings. If you have a bass boost feature make sure that’s not set too high, and also make sure its not low-passed too high either. I’d say 100hz is the highest you should typically go. Also try turning down your gain a bit. As for the speakers not sounding good, the problem is with the power as stated before. The HU simply does not give them enough power. The majority of after-market speakers are made to be used with amplifiers. And 18 watts from your deck just doesn’t cut it. Try getting a 4-channel amp that puts out 50 watts or more per channel. It’ll make an extremely noticeable difference. and always remember, just like most things you can buy, you get what you pay for (ie just because you can find a $100 amp, doesn't mean it'll perform well)

Hope this helps!

As a general rule, the preamp output of a headunit is made to reach it's max output MUCH later than the onboard amp. This is where your problem is coming from. Although your preamp (signal out for amps) is clear to probably 36~37 on your headunit, it's amplifier starts clipping much earlier, 13~14 as you have stated. So, no matter what you're hooking up to that headunit, you'll always have the same problem. You have two possibilities : either set your amp so that it's max is also around 13~14 to balance with your speakers, OR (better option here) is to amplify your speakers as well. You're speakers want proper power to keep up with your sub. Especialy with 1000W to your sub and like nothing to your speakers. I used to have 800W RMS for my sub, and 2 X 200W RMS for my speakers. That gave me a nicely balanced sound, and even then, sometimes my sub would be a tiny bit overpowering.

Your speakers need more power than that to keep up with your sub.
