I just bought 2 12" Alpine Type R's and am running them in a 1 cube each sealed box with a 1000bd running them. They play low really loud but to my suprise they have very little punch. They sound very sloppy. The box sealled pretty good (very minor air leak) I've got a little bit of polyfill in the box. If I removed that would it help? Is the amp the problem? And please don't tell me I should have bought tens. I've also got a 1 farad cap on the amp. Thanks guys

Hey Jay!!try thowing something solid into the box to reduce the volume, and see if it gets punchier.if that works than reduce the vol of the box by gluing mdf to the sides,it'd be really solid and quicker than building a new box

I've already played with the crossovers, that didn't help. I might try reducing my box volume a bit because I got gobs of power running them so I could aford to loose some box space. That will increase my power handling too. Thanks guys

Ive always found that 12's are sloppy, unless your box is bang. X-over is key, and ported is prolly best way to go

i've never found 12's to be sloppy.. i guess it all depends on the box it's in My 18" that i run in home isnt sloppy either
