Thats about all the Panasonic has going for it. That is if you like the looks. I can't stand the looks of the Panasonic stuff.
Alpine would be the far better choice for a number of reasons. Longevity and performance are probably the two biggest ones. The Alpine will smack the Panasonic around when it comes down to SQ and performance.

i got that deck (the panasonic)...its really not that bad, mind you i havent played with the alpine...the only reason i would buy it is if you got one hell of a deal on it (like i did)...its not loaded with features but it has the simple stuff, sub control, and other very basic controls...main features of course are the touch screen and the cutomizeable display, which is kinda cool if you want to match the dash or something, it does have a very functional remote and the little movies it plays are cool...on the downside of cosmetic things, it has glare like a mad bastard in the day, and gets tons of finger prints (comes with cleaning cloth )...those are all cosmetic things, which is the focus of the deck...but as far as SQ is concerned it does sound alot better than some of the other lesser panasonics (yes i have tested them), and it does come with a dc/dc convertor, which i am told only comes on higher end decks and has 5V preouts (non-fading sub)...but as for the alpine, it would be nice to hear from someone who has tried them both, if such a person exists...o yeah, the tuner is pretty good to, gets me reception with my in windshield antenna

the panasonic does have some cool cosmetics if your into that, but i truly believe that tha alpine will be sonically superior, i have sold pana and alpine together for 5 years and have had alot of opportunity to use many different cd players from both companies and in every instance thought the alpine sounded better, that can be attributed to many things, most likely component quality, aka you do 10 little things a little bit better in the end youve made a big difference, just my 2 cents, btw the panasonic stuff is ultra reliable, at least for me, and does have a killer tuner
