I agree with that statement, starting point it is great. Like I said I would definately use it to get a quick snapshot of polarity etc. For example if you have a dip at the crossover point for the subs it can indicate being out of phase with the midbass, but if the dip is at the sub crossover point and the mid crossover point it can indicate the midbass is out of phase, it definately takes some time off that part of the tuning process.

 

if using an analog eq, you will likely create more phase issues than you could ever fix, and likely make one thing worse while creating maybe fixing another, at least using a true digital eq it wont present the phase related issues you get with a analog eq, i actually take six different printouts, in six different position(left ear, right ear, etc) off the 3055a and create a frequncy response graph, all measurement are taken with at lest myslef and perhaps a passenger
then i graph them out and make eq changes based on the six curves, its time comsuming but that is how i start after making the obvious changes to xover points etc, if need be, then its off to the fun part, listening tests
