Need a new SQ sub, 8" or 10"

Hey guys, i'm in the need of a or some new subs, i'm looking at tons of stuff that are in the forsale threads and around, i'm finding deals or not to bad prices for hertz audio, but even in my price range is Image dynamics. How good are these subs?

I had A/d/s 10's and they were great, if i could find another set of them i'd be happy. I have heard focal subs, boston's, but the price is abit high for me. I found those Image dynamics off the dyimobileaudio forum, and this guys selling off IDQ10V2D2/4, ID8/10V3D2/4. and so how good are they or should i look at something better.

thx

Edit : Basically How good are Image Dynamic Subs?

We sell tons of the Hertz Hi-Energy cast frame 8" subs....very efficient, play well in any kind of enclosure...and the price is quite affordable.

We get nothing but rave reviews from guys that use these....

Image Dynamics have always been really good subs too.....I'm sure you'd be real happy with either..

8 " sub

How can a subwoofer work in any box and be good? Jack of all trades and master of none is the saying i have heard.
Which Focals did you listen to? The new Access are very impressive for the $$ if you are looking for SQ. If you are looking for SPL, (on the meter), I would not suggest the Focal Access. Becaue the cone of the Focal Access is made of woven glass fibres, it is very light and thus efficient. Due to the linear responce, they are great for a wide variety of music but not good for one note wonders on the microphone.

Well a friend of mine back in regina, has some 8" hertz energy subs available to me. Never heard the 8's but i have heard the 6.5comps of the energy and hi-energy and they sounded great. As for the energy i've been told that there are very effiecent, little power needed, but for the price difference the hi-energy's are the better buy, what is the main differences btw the two?

I listened to the focal polyglass, think it was the 27V, but that was quite awhile ago, someone has a 33v sub forsale asking about $250 obo, and it got me thinking about a 12/13" sub, however i'm more worried about box sizing and power needed to run it. I'm looking for SQ, it's all about the quality of sound for this guy. As it is, price is somewhat of an issue b/c i don't wanna spend tons on they b/c i'd rather spend it on the power or for the comps.

I have found some image dynamic subs that are 8" or 10" for about 85-140US. But i have been told that IM are better in ported boxes, so with that comes space.

To get back to your initial question: ID makes a good woofer.

IMO for the minimal extra box volume and size, just use a 10.
