And of course, once you hit 135 dB you can shut it down if you want to. You don't have to 'maintain' 135 dB for 30 seconds. Cue up the song, pin the volume, BOOOOOOOM! hit 135, shut 'er down. I'm sure a serious competitor would know and measure at what point in the SPL track their system would hit the 135 dB cap and pin the volume for that breif second or two and then lower the volume.

If I spent multiple thousands on a 'quality' component set, I would sure as heck hope it would handle the power going to it for that period of time. The non-subwoofer drivers generally receive a lot less power anyway (and yeah I'm sure those guys with 500+ watts on their front stage have the gains turned down anyway just for balance) and if all the quality gear you have in your system is operating properly anyway, their should be no clipping.

 

i have neve hit over at a show .i see 135 then off. you have what 1/2 a min to hit it does not said i need to hit for the 1/2min so about 5 out of the 30 i play then i sit

You did say a good component set should handle 135db for less then 30 sec...... AND THATS WHAT THE ARGUMENT IS ALL ABOUT!

135db is achievable IN THE MID/HI REGION. with multiple mid/hi horn drivers arrays...... just not a high end component set for a car!

If your intent was using the sub for the SPL....... then you're twisting words around!
