Question on SQ install / upgrade
Question on SQ install / upgrade
I am planning some work on my car in the next few weeks and want to run this past the list for general advice and feedback.
Car is 2002 Saab 9-3 SE 5-door hatchback.
used a full roll of dynamat-like material on the front doors (forget the name of the product - from Saskatchewan ... ?)
Current System consists of:
Nakamichi CD500 HU
Nakamichi MF-51 5-disc changer (in glove box) connected via digital coax.
Nakamichi PA2004 (Zed Designed) 4 x 100 into 4 Ohms
Esotec System 242 GT - Dynaudio 6.5" 2 Way Component Speakers. Woofers in stock location (door panels) tweeters in stock location (dash corners facing straight up)
G5104 - Boston Acoustics 10" 4-ohm subwoofer in a crappy, generic box. This sub calls for 1/2 cubic foot sealed enclosure and it's currenlty in a generic 3/4 cubic ft. sealed sub box.
Two channels of the PA2004 bridged for the sub, the other two for the 242 GT components. Stock 6x9s in the back are disconnected.
I recently bought some more kit that I plan on installing in the next couple of weeks:
Nakamichi PA2002 (Zed Designed) 2 x 100 into 4 Ohms - matches specs of the 4-channel amp just 2 channles instead of 4.
Esotec System 242 (not the GT version) - Dynaudio 6.5" 2 Way Component Speakers.
AudioControl DQS Equalizer.
My simple plan is to put the 242 non-GT component speakers up front and put the 242 GT components in the back where the stock 6x9s go - above the wheel well facing straight up.
I'll use the 2-channel Nak amp bridged for the sub and then use the 4-channel Nak amp for the fronts and rears.
The AudioControl DQS should be a fun toy to play with the levels.
I might also play with moving the front tweeters into a pod facing backwards from the dash or the A pillar bottom corners. instead of straight up into the windshield.
Questions:
Should I get a new sub box or are the differences going to be negledgable?
I have another roll of sound dampening material - would you recommend doing the trunk bed next, or the rear door panels, or ...?
Should I spend more time thinking about positioning the rear 242 Gt Components? They will be attenuated down quite a bit.
All advice greatly appreciated!
