Which should I choose for comps? 2 Kicker ZR120s, or 2 Alpine 3554s?

Hey there, got a bit of a dilemma here.

I've decided to amp my front stage w/ 4 channels, and have found 2 great amp combos.
A guy locally is selling 2 of his mint Zr120s. For those who dont know the ratings, its 30x2 @4, realistically more like 45-50. Bridged mono it's 120 x 1 @ 4, so if I ran passive I could get that to each side.

My other option are 2 MINT alpine 3554s. When I say mint, these babies have only got 50hrs TOPS playing time. Very nice. Lot more power in these 4ch amps. Could be bridged down to 2 channels per amp @ 150watts each.

Plans: Right now I've got the Pioneer Rev component 6 1/2" set (passive), but I plan on going DIY soon.

Which is the better option? I've been posting on some other forums (elitecaraudio etc) to see what they suggest. Most have said that the Kicker is clean power, and both are excellent SQ amps.

Thanks for the help!

Both are really nice. I'd lean towards the Alpines myself, not only because of the bigger power but because they are old skool and thus are too cool

I take it you will run one bridged channel on each amp to the 6.5s and the other bridged channel to your tweeters ?

If thats what you had in mind, I'd definatly go that way... more power, and greater control over cross over points...

Haunz, yes that's my plan.

I've heard the Alpine would sound warmer, and the Kicker would be more analytical.

Whats your guys' take on this?

I would go with the Alpine's. More control over gains, crossover's, and it's hard to argue with the power difference.

You will need a seperate crossover though as I don't believe the 3554 has the ones you'll need to do an active front stage. If you have them in your HU that's great.

my deck will seperate Sub from front/rear @ 80hz w/ a 12dbperoctave rolloff if i remember correctly

No EQ though, I still dont have any way of highpassing the tweet and lowpassing the mid

Any ideas?

I think im going to take the Alpines. 1 of the alpines will have the power to match 2 of the ZRs pretty much

Run the Alpine's and use an external active crossover.
