So I guess I'm an SQL guy who needs a home...
^^hell no...love MTX amps and I believe class D is just as good as any other class SQ wise, and most definitely in a moving vehicle(I don't subscribe to the A/B dogma). In addition you have the benefits of small size (although that one isn't...mind you it dishes out 3000 watts), efficiency, and in this case a high quality manufacturer (this is from personal experience with MTX products from 1988 to currently). With the new ICE technology used in Alpine, eclipse, Pioneer(i think),...it's win win for me!
ok dude its like this. i completely understand what u are tryin to achieve here so here is my input.
nevermind the guys in the spl section, they like their "REAL RMS POWER" at 1/4 ohm a little too much.
that mtx amp will be a waste if you want real 2000 watts at 2 ohm. you need a pair of strappable amps that would be rated higher than 2000 rms at their lowest rated strapped impendace.
a pair of any decent 1500D amplifiers strapped at 2 ohm would probably be your best bet. something like a pair of sundown 1500 watt amps that are rated to do 3000 at 2 ohm strapped. realistically u wont be getting 3k watts but you will have 2000 rms and then some at all times without much effort or stress on the amps. and u can also keep your gains nice and low, using only exactly what you need, with some headroom if u ever need it. no clipping, no distortion and all the power you need for some very loud music.
alternatively you can get a single amp that is rated to do more than 2000 rms at 2 ohm, but those would normally be big and expensive amps like american bass 400.1 or something.
